Babies don’t stay babies for long. Already I look down at my three month old baby boy, Jack, sleeping in his crib and note that there’s not much space left in it compared to only a few weeks ago. He’s going to have to go into his cot soon and then before I know it, he will be packing up his things to go to university! So, I’ve decided that I’m going to write it all down and record it – and this blog is where we begin.

I’m still very new to this parenting malarky and it’s certainly not always easy but I am loving being Jack’s mummy. I feel like I’ve found my calling in life. I am completely and utterly head-over-heels in love with my little boy and because time is ticking far too quickly, I don’t want to forget anything about this adventure myself, my husband  James and Jack have started.

I want this blog to be a platform where I can record all the things that we do together. I want to record  my thoughts and feelings on stuff that happens, things I read, things I hear or watch, things people say about the highs and lows of parenting, new things I learn and want to share or just stuff that I find really, really odd. Basically, an entire lot of stuff and things based on my parenting journey.

I hope that this blog will be funny and uplifting but I also want it to be honest and maybe even helpful to some. I want people to read what I have to say and for it to evoke their own thoughts or memories of their parenting experiences. I am by no means an expert on any of this –  most of  the time like everyone else I am making it up as I go along and winging it for the best part! This blog isn’t intended as a “how to guide” or anything like that, it’s just a bit of fun so feel free to share your own pearls of wisdom and experiences in the comments as we are all in this together people! Most of all though, I want to be able to show Jack this when he is older so he can read about the things we’ve done that he’s forgotten over time and so he has both a record of his childhood and of how much I love him.

I for one am very much looking forward to blogging about this and I think this is going to be a lot of fun. I hope you will agree!

Abbie, aka Mama Bear

A QUICK BIT ABOUT MAMA BEAR: Abbie is a 20-something, married (to James) mother-of-one, from South-East England. She loves animals and has five cats and a rabbit at home.  She is a massive booknerd, particuarly fond of Harry Potter, and her dream job would be something where she could read fiction stories all day. She loves chocolate, watching Eastenders, getting into fresh bed sheets and raspberries but hates sweetcorn, tea, coffee and has a phobia of clowns. She’s quite good at baking and even made her own wedding cake and she can draw stuff – she has a degree in illustration to prove it. However, she can’t parallel park  so instead just drives around until she finds another space.  She also can’t do roley poleys – it’s a sad fact but luckily it doesn’t impact on her day to day life. She’s also quite funny – both in the “ha ha” and “weird” sense!
